Elizabeth's Blog Post #5

EElizabeth’s English 111 Blog #5 By: Elizabeth Crotts   Broken Hearts. I have had a few broken hearts in my lifetime, and I am sure it will break a few more times as I make more connections with people. I have never been in a romantic relationship so; this isn’t the expected Taylor Swift version of blog posts. Though I haven’t been “in love” with anyone, that doesn’t mean I haven’t loved anyone.  My first heartbreak occurred when I was too young to remember. I was born with a congenital heart defect so; I literally have a broken heart. I am fine now; I don’t need any pity party thrown for me. This broken heart has always been a part of me, and I will never have a life without it.   On to the emotional side of heartbreak, you know, the one we all expected this post would be about. My second heartbreak happened in second grade, when I was told my best friend at the time was moving away and leaving our school. At that school, I was bullied for eight years. S...

EElizabeth's English Blog #4 By: Elizabeth Crotts   In my last blog post, I talked about impact and influence. I am no longer obsessed with Disney’s 1950s Cinderella and I don’t wear colorfully sparkled sneakers. The biggest impact on my life is my family. I know that’s a traditional cliché but, when you’ve lived every moment surrounded by them, it molds you into who you are.   The meals they provide for you control your sense of taste. The environment you were raised in impacts your comfort and sensitivity to noise, touch, smell, sight, and taste. I grew up in a small town, which gives me a different sense of comfort than someone from a big city. The smell of fresh-cut grass or diesel exhaust comforts and reminds me of moments spent with my grandparents. Blueberry muffins bring back memories of baking with my mother.   Box-cutters and cowboy boots to me symbolize my father and the hard-working man, he’s been for my entire life. Chocolate ice cream and danc...

Elizabeth's Blog Post #3

EElizabeth’s English 111 Blog #3 By: Elizabeth Crotts                   Interests, Advice, and Trends are the topics that largely form blog posts. I have few to no interests. No one is going to take advice from a teenager behind a computer. As well as the last known trend I was aware of was light-up, bedazzled sketchers, and Disney’s cartoon Cinderella. It’s safe to say that trend died at least a decade ago. For anyone who’s asking, yes, I did partake in those girly 2010s trends.                   I went so far into this obsession that I had a Cinderella-themed birthday party when I was five. I dressed up like Cinderella and made my parents and siblings dress up too. The party was catered by my grandmother’s business. My wonderful grandmother made me a giant castle-shaped cake with Disney princess figurines posed...

Elizabeth's Blog Post #2

EElizabeth’s English 111 Blog #2 By: Elizabeth Crotts   Every story has a beginning, a middle, and an end. Chapter one looks like most of the global population. Born into this world with nothing to know and nothing to remember. So, the days went by, and I grew, learned, and tested my parents’ choices on having children. Now my body is fully grown, and I have developed my knowledge of the world. But I still give my parents a run for their money. Some habits just never die. Life Before I Knew the World If you were to ask me about how I filled those days of joyful carelessness and no responsibilities. The answer would be playing dress up, making mud pies, wrestling my cousin, and building blanket forts in my grandmother’s living room. Those were my "good old days." Those moments impacted me and formed some of my favorite parts of myself. They prospered my creativity, stubbornness, and messiness. I probably need to work on that last one, my mom still doesn't let m...

Elizabeth's First Blog Post

EElizabeth’s English 111 Blog By: Elizabeth Crotts   Today is August 16, 2023. My name, as you can read above is Elizabeth Crotts. I started this blog to fulfill my assignment for my English course but, I hope this will be more than the themes in my classroom. I have never written a blog before so; I wish for grace as I discover and understand this different genre of writing. This may not be the most entertaining blog and I could be the lamest blogger you’ve ever miserably read but, you’re still reading.     A Little Bit About Me It is a challenge for me to write about my life, merely because I don’t think its that interesting. I’ll live and I’ll die but, that’s the cycle for every other human being on this floating rock. From the surface, I’m not special. I am just another acne-faced, confused teenager reaching for the approval of my parents and anyone else who remotely cares about me. I have a life and a story that goes with it. Though, it may not b...
